This summer, Marcie is spending time working at Angel Mounds, the archaeological dig her mother heads, along with her brother, Eric, and his girlfriend, Renee. The dig is the site of an ancient indigenous civilization, and things immediately shift into the paranormal when Marcie and her teammates meet Lorraine and Zeke. The two mysterious dig assistants reveal their abilities to access the Universal Energy Field with their minds-something Marcie knows only vaguely that her brother has also had experience with. Marcie learns how our planet will disintegrate if action is not taken, and she and her team must decide if they are brave enough to help Lorraine and Zeke in their plan to save Mother Earth, her resources, and her history. It looks like the summer just got a lot more interesting.
My review
I got this book as part of a blog tour and am posting this review on my blog and Goodreads.
I have to say I really liked this one but the first thing I will say about this book is its not going to be for everybody. It is in a word … ok well two words OUT THERE. I feel that a lot will love it and a lot will hate it. I am definitely part of the LOVE group though. The writing is engaging and draws you in and the characters, notably Marcie, Renee, Eric and Leo are easy to like.
There were some elements which I feel needed more work, I feel the ending might have been a little rushed, but for me at least the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. I loved the archaeological aspects, the environmental urgency. But the main thing that kept me reading was Marcie herself. A great character, strong willed, intelligent and just the right amount of weird!
I’d recommend it to fans of science fiction, YA or anybody really who is interested in stories that involve the damage we are causing to the environment.

Tracy Richardson wasn’t always a writer, but she was always a reader. Her favorite book growing up was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. In a weird way, that book has even shaped her life through odd synchronicities. She has a degree in biology like Mrs Murry, and, without realizing it, she named her children Alex and Katie after Meg’s parents.
